The Covid-19 “wants prominence” in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and got it after an event had to be canceled this Saturday when a positive case was confirmed.
This is the first match of the beach volleyball tournament where Marketa Slukova, one of the Czech players, tested positive for the coronavirus.
“I don’t know what to say, I am absolutely disappointed,” she said in a statement on Thursday, when she learned the result of her test.
For this reason, both she and her partner Barbora Hermannova were not allowed to participate, in order to protect the other athletes and organizers of the event.
The game would take place at the Parke Shiokeze at 9:00 am.
Six cases of Covid-19 have been detected in the Czech delegation of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games since they arrived.
The Czech Olympic Committee decided to open an investigation into possible contamination on the charter flight where the athletes traveled to Japan, including the six infected.
